Alyssa Shelton Curry is a Kentucky native and music educator. After earning her undergraduate degree in vocal music performance and theatre, Ms. Curry worked in professional theatre both in Kentucky and Southern California before returning to the Bluegrass to complete her Masters degree in education. In 2015, she founded Youth Theatre of the Bluegrass in Georgetown, KY, a nonprofit performing arts organization which services the youth and families of Scott and surrounding counties.

 

During her performing arts career, she has directed or produced over 40 music theatre productions. For over 20 years, she has been a performing arts educator in Scott County. Several of her former students have gone on to become music education majors, teachers, choreographers, directors or pursued a career in professional theatre.

 

Ms. Curry is a member of National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA), Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC) and affiliated with the American Music Therapists Association (AMTA). She has been recognized and featured by QuaverMusic, a nationally-recognized leader in music education. She lives in Georgetown with her husband, Paul, children, Amelia and Adam, and her dogs, Clover and Tilly. She enjoys traveling, British mystery series and copious amounts of coffee.
